Q: What is a plug-in filter ? top A: Plug-in filter is a small computer program ( DLL or shared library ), that is loaded by a host application ( Photoshop ) and which allows you to apply various additional effects to your images. 1.3. Q: Do McFilters work on MacOS X ? top A: Yes. McFilters are designed to work under MacOS X ( for details, check out the System Requirements ). 1.5. Q: Which host applications are supported ? top A: Currently, we can guarantee that McFilters will work with Adobe Photoshop ( version 4.0 or higher, including Photoshop CS ). However, other host applications might work as well with McFilters, but only if they fully support the latest versions of Photoshop plug-ins, and if they offer a powerful set of tools for editing the selection mask. The best way for you to check out if McFilters work with your graphics application is to download the demo version and try it for yourself. 1.6. Q: Why McFilters do not work with my graphics application which claims to support Photoshop plug-ins ? top A: Some graphics applications claim to support Photoshop plug-in filters, while they actually do not offer 100% support for Photoshop plug-ins. 1.7. Q: What does differ McFilters from other image filters ? top A: McFilters extensively use the information from the selection mask to modulate one or more of it's parameters. For example, the McBlur filter uses the selection mask to additionally define ( modulate ) the blur radius on per-pixel level. In that way, it can be used to create gentle transitions from completely blurred areas to areas which you want to leave intact ( unblurred ). That opens almost infinite possibilities for it's use: from adding Depth Of Field ( DOF ) effects to your digital photos, to creating ray-trace looking soft shadows!
